Dear visitors,
We are so sorry, but Kids' Space Connection is not able to accept new applications, due to the sequential loss of our two main supporting companies for their business curtailment.
Without the operation budget, we cannot protect children's safety, so KS connection had to close for new registrants, and soon will have to close our internal communication tool, also.
There are over 35,000 approved pairs of parents and children from 163 countries since we renewed our database three years ago. They have been able to use the communication tool KS Messaging System (KSMC) --- A personal one-one BBS program. Not email nor chat, but very much monitored and can traced down, without allowing any attachment and spam messages--- and this was a great tool for children to start communicating others on the Internet, without worrying about revealing their privacy, being contacted by adults, and receiving unwanted files.
We are sad to say that will have to halt the messaging system soon, for we cannot keep the same level of safety monitoring we used to do. Please understand they (the 35,000 pairs of parent and child) are still way safer at this moment, comparing to using Email, chat, SNS, or any other commercial based services, but we cannot catch up with updating the site with new messages, answering all kind of questions, monitoring how the participants are doing, and sending suggestions or instructions to parents. Our system has to be updated and improved for faster and easier communication, and our full time staff members have to be here for many manual works to maintain the original KSC environment.
Kids' Space and Kids' Space Connection were great (but small in the scale) model sites on the net for children's worldwide experiences.
There are boys who successfully sent 6000 pairs of sneakers to Afghan kids, after having a lot of meetings on KS, families who visited each other between UK and India after exchanging a lot on the site, the collaboration between US and Pakistani kids, story making by 6 kids from 6 different courtiers.... The great story goes on and on.... read more great stories
We hope someone, a big company or organization will see the importance of children's early experience with friends from other cultural backgrounds, and decided to make the similar sites like Kids' Space and Kids' Space Connection.
It is a time and money consuming work but as one of our many social responsibilities, someone should be keeping providing these services on the Internet. Otherwise, the net would be used only for consumers, not for learners.
If someone can support/study/try to create children's safe commutation environment on the net, we are very happy to cooperate, using our best knowledge accumulated since 1995.
If you know such a company /organization /individual, please tell them that Kids' Space Foundation is happy to help. It is not important to keep "Kids' Space" sites on the net, but it is far more important to keep such attempt/initiative/policy on the net.
Thank you for your understanding.
